Manchester United Boss Ruben Amorim Confesses He Cannot Run From Poor Results
Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim experiences the pressure during the three-one loss at opponents
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim confesses he cannot ignore from his disappointing performance and says it is expected that Old Trafford icons are commenting on him.
Earlier this week, United's all-time scorer Wayne Rooney told his podcast that "the heart has disappeared" from his former club.
The Portuguese manager has managed just eighteen wins from his 49 matches in control, featuring nine out of 33 in the Premier League, where he has yet to record two successive wins.
Although high-level Old Trafford insiders are certain that the club owner remains backing the manager, failure to defeat recently promoted Sunderland on Saturday will trigger renewed discussion about his future heading into the upcoming two-week pause in domestic football.
"It is expected," stated the Portuguese manager, when questioned about Rooney's remarks. "One cannot run away from the results."
"Furthermore you have the history from last season, [although] last season for me is irrelevant."
Fan Reaction and Current Circumstances
United's followers stayed supportive of Amorim following last season's poor fare, when they ended up fifteenth in the league - their worst showing since the 1973-74 demotion season - and were defeated in the Europa League showpiece, in the hope that the current campaign would be substantially improved.
The manager told supporters the circumstances would improve because he had more time to work with his players without the weekly commitment of continental football.
That is not how the first six fixtures have developed as Manchester United have experienced three defeats already and are currently fourteenth in the table.
Coach's Response to Concerns
When asked what promises he could give supporters that the position will get better, the manager stated: "This is not time to say, it is the moment to demonstrate."
"I analyze the matches this season and, for me, they are entirely varied, but I have nothing to add at the current time."
- Manchester United currently hold 14th position in the top flight
- Amorim has secured just eighteen of his forty-nine matches in charge
- The former striker recently questioned the team's present situation
- Saturday's match against their opponents is important for the manager's future
